These exercises are designed to introduce the student to the twelve keys found in western harmony; in a clear and systematic fashion. Following the criteria of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, these exercises are written to satisfy the requirements for examination of scales and arpeggios. For the ABRSM syllabus for woodwinds, please click here. I have found that this grading system is an excellent model for developing a student’s grasp of the twelve major keys and minor modes.
